Judith Rakers moves to the island of Rügen – “All animals come with me”

Presenter Judith Rakers is moving her farm to the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Germany. The 49-year-old announced this on her Instagram account – and showed off her building plot.

The former “Tagesschau” anchorwoman will soon be moving to her favorite island of Rügen. Rakers announced on her Instagram account this week that a previously shared short video about April Fools’ Day was not an April Fools’ joke: “The farm is moving to Rügen. In the summer. And all the animals are coming with us.”

In the new video, the camera pans from a meadow with a pond to a house under construction and two greenhouses, where “the first plants” will soon be moving in. There’s also space for her animals. She herself won’t be moving to the island until summer. “Until then, construction will continue,” she wrote.

Rakers was a presenter for the “Tagesschau” news program until 2024. Most recently, she lived in the north of Hamburg on a small farm with several animals and grew her own vegetables and fruit. Rakers has been running the lifestyle brand “Homefarming” for several years, selling garden accessories and books, among other things.

Off to the East: TV presenter Judith Rakers announced her departure from Hamburg on Instagram. The hobby gardener is moving to Rügen. The former “Tagesschau” anchor’s new home even has a duck pond.

Capri, Mallorca, Cuba – there are so many beautiful, sunny islands to make your life’s dream come true. But no, TV presenter Judith Rakers , 49, is headed east. “It wasn’t an April Fool’s joke,” says the passionate hobby gardener on her Instagram account. “The farm is moving to Rügen. This summer. And all the animals are coming with us,” says Rakers.

Even wild ducks are “warmly invited” to populate the pond located on her spacious property, says the former “Tagesschau” anchorwoman, dressed in high brown boots and an oversized lumberjack shirt.

A video shows the progress of work on their property on the Baltic Sea island : Two glass greenhouses and several raised beds are already in place in front of a wooden house. Directly in front of it is the new paddock for their horses.

For several years, Rakers has lived on her “small farm” on the outskirts of Hamburg, sharing her rural life with her followers, including gardening tips, chickens, and horses. There, the hobby gardener focuses on her entrepreneurial activities and has published books on home farming.

Since January, there have been hints that the presenter wants to spend more time on her favorite island – on April 1, Rakers officially confirmed the rumors. “Soon I’ll be able to be here much more often,” she wrote, raving, “Rügen, my love… 2025 will be my island year.”

Rakers was born in Paderborn in 1976 before moving to Münster and then to NDR in Hamburg in 2004. At the beginning of 2024, she said goodbye to the Tagesschau with the words “Thank you for letting me into your living room again and again over the past 19 years .

It will be a very special move when Judith Rakers moves into her new home with all her belongings. The former “Tagesschau” anchor has now revealed where she’s headed with her little zoo.

Hamburg – After separating from her husband, real estate expert Andreas Pfaff, Judith Rakers (49) found her retreat just outside Hamburg. In 2018, the former “Tagesschau” anchorwoman moved into the small country house with a large garden. Luxury was nowhere to be found! The home didn’t even have running water. Rakers had to fetch it from a well.

Eight years later, Judith Rakers is moving again. But this time, the move involves more than just a few boxes. The TV presenter (“3nach9”) is bringing her two horses, numerous cats, and chickens with her. On April 1, the East Westphalia native announced to her followers: “So, my dears, the day has come for me to tell you a secret. I’ve been spending a lot of time on a construction site over the past few months because the small farm is moving to Rügen.”

Many of her fans believe the announcement is an April Fool’s joke, since the presenter has always emphasized how happy she is in her home. But Judith Rakers continues speaking, panning her cell phone camera over the surroundings. “I’m standing here in the horse pasture,” she explains, proudly showing a large meadow with a pond.

Judith Rakers is now twice as far from her dad

Just two days later, Judith Rakers confirmed that her “little farm,” as she affectionately calls her home, and all of her animals were moving to the Baltic Sea island of Rügen. The craftsmen are already hard at work in the new house, and the hobby gardener’s greenhouses are already up. One thing the new farm definitely wouldn’t be without: a guest room for her dad.

After her parents separated, Judith Rakers grew up with her father. Physiotherapist Hermann Rakers (74) still regularly works at his medical supply store in Bad Lippspringe and maintains a close relationship with his famous daughter. However, the distance between the two is now significantly increasing. While they were previously separated by around 300 kilometers, it will soon be almost 600 kilometers by car.
Driving is indeed a special bond between father and daughter.
